Aeroplane Mary Daunemigha
(1936 – 2024)
About Mama
Mrs. Aeroplane Mary Daunemigha was born to Youlade Doh and Doudou in Agbodobiri, Burutu LGA of Delta State. She grew up with her mother, who was very industrious. Mama took after her mother and became industrious herself. She married Chief Jackto Kpodou Daunemigha of Pereturogbene in Ekeremor L.G.A of Bayelsa State. Mary became so industrious that she started going to Lagos to buy goods to sell in Pereturogbene and later Warri.

After her husband died in 1970, she relocated fully to Warri, Delta State, where she built houses and continued with her businesses, taking care of her only child and grandchildren.
Mama was known for her generosity and hospitality, hosting relations such as Late Pa Eniekezimene of blessed memory and Garenkeme coming from the North. She helped a lot of women buy land and build houses in Warri. She was loving but also a strict disciplinarian.
After she gave her life to Christ, Mama retired from her drink-selling business and moved to Yenagoa to spend more time with her children. She was equally the first person to build a storey building in her husband’s community (Peretorugbene Federated Community), hence earned the title ‘Amafini-ere’. In the same vein, she equally built a befitting house at her great grandmother’s community ( Tebegbe Community) in Burutu LGA of Delta State to the glory of God.
In 2019, she had a domestic accident that restricted her to a wheelchair for almost 5 years. Despite this, Mama did not suffer any form of depression. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful tither. She passed away as God demanded, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. We all love her and miss her dearly. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
